We are pleased to announce that we will once again be running our popular and successful Futures Turf Development program for the 2022-23 season.

As can be seen from the above infographic, players involved saw significant development technically and physically, and had a lot of fun!

The program will aim to expose u12/u13/u14 junior cricketers who are not currently in a district squad to regular turf cricket played under District Junior Guidelines, against age relevant district cricket sides.

Regular games against similar age teams currently competing in the WACA District competition will be supplemented with weekly theory, skills and fitness sessions to provide participants with access to high level coaching and training.

Training sessions will use a range of specialist equipment at ECT including bowling machines, catching aids and strength and conditioning equipment, and will be coached by 3 permanent coaches and a range of specialist guest coaches.

There will be a strong emphasis on fitness, match relevant strength & conditioning, and squad based skill development in areas targeted by District Selection processes.

There will be a mix of indoor and outdoor weeknight and weekend training, along with practice matches and the turf development games against district development sides.

Troy Worth, senior Coach and manager at ECT, will head up the ECT coaching panel, which will include Jai Sinclair, Khilesh Mamtani, Andrew Jackson, Prateek Ahluwalia, and Alex Yonge. The guest coaching panel will include Jim Allenby, Jim Walters, Noel Raymond & David Taylor.

Squads will be capped at 14 players to ensure all participants receive regular game play and consistent feedback and review. Additional players may be waitlisted on the program in case of injury or absence by initial squad members.

It is expected therefore that players in the program will be committed to regular attendance, and will be expected to participate in all aspects of the program on an ongoing basis. Activities will be planned and structured around the squad members and their specific requirements, and so ad hoc attendance or participation is not appropriate.

Games will be organised on a roughly fortnightly basis, with the aim of playing 3-5 before Christmas in each age group, and another 3-5 afterwards. They will be played on a range of WACA Premier and Suburban Turf grounds in the Metro area. Teams that will be played against will probably include Claremont-Nedlands, Gosnells, Fremantle, Melville, Wanneroo and Rockingham-Mandurah.

The program will require a registration fee of $150 and a weekly fee of $60. This will include cap, game & training shirt, along with coached weeknight and weekend training and supervised fitness sessions. Teams will play in their supplied match shirt and white trousers, and spikes will be required for all turf games. There will be a charge of $10 per player for all turf games.

This program is designed to offer the highest level of coaching and facilities on offer from outside, and within, WACA district programs. The games will give players a chance to experience district cricket and turf pitches, as well as the opportunity to review performances and prepare for games with a high quality team of coaches.

The program has been refined from last year, and will aim to build on the incredible success of that cohort of players, who performed extremely well the majority of whom progressed to second round District trials, with 60% of eligible participants ending up achieving selection into a district squad.

We expect this program will fill up quickly due to the limitations on numbers, so please register your interest ASAP.
